Manuscript Matcher

Using complex algorithms and data from the Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports, Manuscript Matcher identifies the most relevant and impactful journals to which you may wish to submit your manuscript.

You can access Manuscript Matcher in the following ways:

Log on to your EndNote online account and click Match.

Once the Manuscript Matcher window opens, cut and paste the article’s title and abstract into the appropriate boxes. If accessing via EndNote online, select the Group containing the manuscript’s references under References. This step is not needed if launching from the EndNote X9 desktop or from Cite While You Write.

Click Find Journals.

Manuscript Matcher will display up to 10 journal matches for your manuscript as well as detailed information about each journal:

Match Score—an index of how closely your article matches with published content in this journal. Click on the arrow next to the Match Score bar to show or hide additional journal detail.

JCR Impact Factor—a measure a journal’s mean citation rate per citable item. The current-year and average 5-year scores are displayed. Click the arrow next to the Current Year label to reverse the JCI Impact Factor sort order from descending to ascending, or ascending to descending.

Journal Name—The journal title.

Similar articles—Other articles published in the journal with topics similar to yours.

Submit—Links to the journal log-in page, where you may log in and submit your manuscript.

Journal information—Links to the journal website.

Clicking on the arrow next to Match Score shows or hides the following detailed journal information:

JCR Category—The Subject Category to which the journal is assigned in Web of Science and JCR. If a journal belongs to multiple categories, they will be displayed here.

Rank in Category—Journal rank according to the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) for the journal, for each JCR category to which the journal belongs. It is expressed as the rank-order position of the journal over the total number of journals in the category that have a JIF

Quartile in Category—Rank expressed in terms of the quartile based on the percentile rank. If a journal is in Q1, it ranks higher than 75% of the journals in the category; Q2 means it ranks among the top half or journals in the category, etc.

Publisher address—The publisher’s address of record.

ISSN—The publisher’s International standard Serial Number (ISSN) code, which is used to identify journals and other publications published in any media.

eISSN—The publisher’s electronic International Standard Serial Number (eISSN) code, which is used to uniquely identify electronic journals and other publications.

Note: In certain cases, Manuscript Matcher will not be able to identify journal matches for your manuscript. If not all citations have been entered, try again once the citations are complete; or revise your abstract.
